Dr. Morris L. Brown

A retired physician, community activist, entrepreneur, and nonprofit founder, Dr.
Morris Brown was born in Anniston, Alabama, in 1948, the fourth of eight children.
After working as a sharecropper and domestic worker, his mother became a
nurse’s aide. His father was a laborer and Baptist preacher.


Dr. Brown is an experienced professional who reviews standards of care, analyzes
provider merits and assesses risk exposure. He has an in-depth understanding of
medical care requirements and best practices, and he is skilled at addressing health
issues, health disparities, and justice reform.


His expertise lies in diabetic care, healthcare disparities, violence prevention
and mass incarceration.


Dr. Morris Brown graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in Anniston, Alabama. He
was third in his class and served as class president. He attended Knoxville
College, a historically black liberal arts college in Tennessee, where his
leadership skills were honed as part of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and student
government. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

Dr. Brown thrived at Meharry Medical School, gaining excellent research and clinical
experience. He graduated in 1974 and joined the United States Air Force Medical
Corps, where he traveled extensively as the Director of Aerospace Medicine for three
years. Dr. Brown provided expertise to airmen at remote sites. After he left the Air
Force, Dr. Brown joined Central State University in Wilberforce, OH to assist in
rebuilding the campus destroyed by the Xenia tornado. He successfully received a
grant to rebuild the Community/Student Health Center and credits his years in the
Air Force for preparing him for this task. Thanks to Dr. Brown’s efforts and
commitment, the community and the students benefited from having the facility
rebuilt.


Dr. Brown has been a community activist most of his life. While in Alabama he
protested Jim Crow laws, joined demonstrations and participated in voters’
registration. He is a life member of SCLC, Urban League, and NAACP. Dr Brown
knows that freedom is not free and has dedicated his life toward freedom for all
humanity.
