Mattie White has been driven to give back to the community and organizations in which she serves. She has worked in the social services and education fields for 30 years. Her desire has been to walk worthy of her vocation and show love as she serves.
Mattie has used her love for the arts to foster self-esteem and leadership skills in young people. She has directed praise dance performances and theatrical productions at her church and service organizations.
Mattie is a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. She directs the youth choir and programs. She is also a member of Missionary Circle 2 where she joins in visiting sick and shut-in members and providing an annual Widows and Widowers Banquet.
Mattie is also a life member of the National Council of Negro Women, Incorporated (NCNW). She has been instrumental in providing leadership and mentoring to the Dayton Section Youth Council of NCNW, Inc. through coordinating field experiences and service projects.
She serves as the Social Action Chair for the Montgomery County (Ohio) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. As the Social Action Chair, a primary focus has been general Voter Registration and collaborating with the “Teen Voting Project” which is conducted for area high school students.
Mattie is a Silver Life member of the Dayton Unit NAACP. She is extremely honored to serve with other committed members of one of the most prestigious civil rights organizations.
Ms. White’s employment experience included: – A Behavior Specialist serving children in grades K-8 and their families; She has previously worked as a Program Manager for a children’s residential treatment center; Adjunct Faculty; Central Office Administrator; Building Principal; Director of State and Federal Programs; Consultant for the Ohio Department of Education and Nova Scotia Provincial Department of Education.
She also extends her time and effort as a member of the Harrison Township Zoning Commission.
