Chairman Roland Winburn is a Dayton native who has resided in Harrison Township since 1996. He is a 1965 graduate of Chaminade High School who earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Central State University, and received certification in Mediation and Dispute Resolution from the Capital University Law School. Winburn was inducted into Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati/Dayton, CSU’s Achievement Hall of Fame, and Parity Inc.’s Top Ten African-American Male. He is a graduate of the Ohio Township Leadership Academy and the Midwest Council of State Governments prestigious Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development as a BILLD Fellow.
Mr. Winburn assumed careers in mental health as a psychotherapist, a program coordinator who coordinated, planned and evaluated health, human and social service programs, and was a fund development director. He also successfully founded and owned a business spanning over twenty years.
Mr. Winburn began his life in public service at Montgomery County before becoming an elected official as a Harrison Township Trustee. After serving two terms, Winburn pursued then won his election to become State Representative for Ohio’s 40th House District, and subsequently was elected to serve the redistricted 43rd House District.
At present, Winburn is a board member of the Area Agency on Aging, and Reach Out Montgomery County. As Trustee, he serves on the First Suburbs Consortium of Dayton, Ohio Public Works District Four Integrating Committee, the National Association of Towns and Townships (NATaT), and the Montgomery County Township Association (MCTA) where he is MCTA’s Governmental Liaison besides representing the MCTA on Montgomery County’s Human Service Levy Commission and the Children’s Trust Fund.
Chairman Winburn is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the Knights of Saint Peter Claver.
